Richest cities in Poland

Poland has a rich and often depressing history, but in the past few decades, the country has seen something like a renaissance. The economy has been one of the best in Europe and a lot of wealth and foreign business has entered Poland. This new economy can be seen very clearly in the larger Polish cities, which also happen to be the richest cities in Poland:

Wrocław

Wrocław is located in southwestern Poland, in the region of Silesia. The city and the region have a long and complicated history and have been part of the Kingdom of Poland, the Kingdom of Bohemia, the Kingdom of Hungary, the Habsburg Monarchy of Austria, the Kingdom of Prussia, and Germany. Nowadays, the proximity to Germany and Czechia is a benefit instead of a liability, and that is reflected in the economy of the city. Many banks, leasing companies as well as large multinational corporations choose to operate from here.

Krakow

Krakow is Poland’s second-largest city and one of the oldest ones in the country. The Old Town was declared the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in the world and is a very beautiful and well-preserved example of medieval European architecture. Krakow’s economy is propped up by good tourism industry, many corporate offices, outsourcing, and a thriving start-up community. Many ‘digital nomads’ and ex-pats also choose to make Krakow their home, which helps the city feel more international and also brings a lot more resources to the country.

Warsaw

Warsaw is the capital and largest city in Poland, located in the east of the country. Once again, this is a city with a lot of history, that has been a part of many states and empires throughout the years. As you might expect from a capital, a lot of Poland’s largest companies, as well as foreign headquarters, are located in Warsaw. Poland went through an outsourcing boom and many people work well-paying jobs for large international companies, in Warsaw. There is also a strong industry in and around the city.
