Athens, Georgia, is located in the north of the State, just 70 miles off Atlanta. It is a College town, the home of the University of Georgia, with around 40 000 students studying here. All of the young people in Athens make it punch above its weight when it comes to nightlife and culture and the University brings in a lot of money and good jobs. There are many start-ups in town, as well as some more developed tech businesses like Partner Software, Peachtree Medical Billing, and Digital Insight. There is also a substantial pharmaceutical industry in town, also helped by the University.
Milton is a small town, essentially a suburb of Atlanta, located in the north of the capital. It is green, covered with trees and even some pastures, but do not let the ruralness mislead you. This is a very affluent area with more than a third of the residents making more than 150 000 dollars a year. There are a couple of country clubs and golf courses, as well as plenty of places for horse riding and some good schools. Most of the people living here work in the big city and have large houses, often with pools, in Milton. While it is not the most exciting place in the world, this is a very calm, safe, and rich town, great for families.
Atlanta is the capital and biggest city in Georgia, as well as one of the largest in the South East of the United States. As is common with capitals, this is the economic, political, and financial center of the State. Fortune 500 companies like Coca-Cola, Home Depot, Delta Airlines, AT&T, Arby’s, Chick-fil-A, and Dunkin Donuts are all based out here. There are thousands of multinational companies with offices here, so there is plenty of work and money to go around. The Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport is also one of the busiest airports in the world and is an important hub for the area, bringing in a lot of transportation and logistics business to Atlanta. There is also a large media industry with CNN, TBS and the Weather Channel having large offices here.
