Most Expensive Neighbourhoods in Mumbai

Mumbai is one of the most popular and populous cities in the world. You have undoubtedly heard a lot about it, good and bad. But one thing is clear, in the future this city is only going to become even larger and more prominent on the international scene. And with opportunity comes investment. We looked at the wealthiest areas of Mumbai and made a list below, that will no doubt prove that India has a lot more to offer than just slums and nice food. There is a lot of money in the Mumbai real estate market.

Lokhandwala Complex

This is a very affluent suburb of Mumbai, located in the northwest of the city. If you are just tourists, visiting Mumbai for a couple of days, there isn’t a reason to come all the way to Lokhandwala, but for residents of the city, this is a very desired spot. Many Bollywood stars, directors, and producers live here, so if you are a fan of those movies it might be worth it, in order to try and spot some celebrities. Besides that, this is a very residential area, made up of higher buildings, mainly from the 1970s, so no particularly unique architecture. There are a few good restaurants in the area to explore.

Worli

Worli is a separate peninsula, to the south of Mumbai, connected to the rest of the city by the stunning Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Here you will find a mixture of newer, wealthier buildings and areas and older more traditional, and impoverished communities. The Worli Village is an old fishing village, that has preserved its ancient fishing techniques but has also inherited some of the problems of the past. However, here you will also find the Worli Sea Face and some other more upscale parts, where you will see familiar businesses and establishments. There is, of course, some good food here, but that can be said about almost anywhere in India.

Altamount & Peddar Road

Even more to the South in Worli, you will find Altamount Road, which is dubbed “India’s billionaires row”. Here there are many luxury and expensive skyscrapers, hotels, shops, and restaurants. It won’t quite make you feel like New York, but this area of Mumbai has its own charm and style and it’s certainly worth visiting, as it is a bit different from the rest of the city. There are even some interesting buildings that have survived the colonial period, which makes the district a unique mixture of old and new that is both worth it for tourists and amazing for residents. Altamount Road is one of the better areas to visit and experience in Mumbai.

Bandra West

Bandra is one of the wealthiest areas in all of India and many of the country’s elites choose to reside here. There are more than a few tourist spots that are worth checking out as well. Like the Basilica Of Our Lady of The Mount, the very Instagrammed Band Stand, and the Bandra Fort. Many tourists choose to stay here during their visit to Mumbai, and with a good reason. Bandra is well situated, close to the rest of the city, and filled to the brim with nice and fun things to do. Certainly, if you want to experience a rich area in Mumbai, this is the place to come to.
