Laptop Friendly Cafes in Phuket

Phuket is one of the most recognizable names in South East Asia, and a necessary stop for everyone that wants to experience the full Thai experience. Some digital nomads will tell you that it’s tacky, filled with drunken and annoying Aussies, a tourist trap, and too expensive. While they are not wrong, Phucket is an amazing destination, Thailand’s Bali, and it is certainly worth the crowds and kitsch. If you ever find yourself there, you won’t regret it, and if you want to get some work done on this island paradise, here are some great work-friendly cafes to check out:

Bookhemian

Bookhemian is located in the city of Phuket itself, and as the name suggests there are lots of books to be found here, as well as coffee. The interior design is modern, just like something you might expect in the US or Europe, and the food is also Western. If you get tired of the local food or insist on working in a hipster location, this might be for you. The Wifi is good and there are plenty of seats available, most of the time. The work hours are pretty good, from 8 am to 7 pm during weekdays and 9 am to 7 pm on the weekend.

SomSak Cafe

SomSak Cafe is also located in the city of Phuket, not too far away from Bookhemian. It is a very charming place with an interesting and colorful interior design. You will find good coffee, comfortable seating, and strong WiFi here, which is pretty much all that you need in order to work comfortably from a cafe. It’s not uncommon to see other people working from here, which makes pulling out your laptop a lot less awkward. The opening times are from 8 am to 5:30 pm, so you should try to get there in the morning, for a productive day.

sync coffee bar & roastery

On the other side of the island, close to Kamala Beach, you will find sync coffee bar & roastery. This is a very modern cafe, reminiscent of an Apple store in terms of design, that caters to remote workers. You would almost feel out of place if you don’t have a laptop here. In this area of Phuket, there aren’t as many options as the larger city, but this is a really great spot for getting work done, with good internet and comfortable seating arrangement. It works from 9 am to 6 pm every day.
